Instead,\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Unite\u00a0<\/em>follows the format of other MOBAs where timing, spacing, and second-to-second teamwork are key.<\/p>\n

DON\u2019T SKIP THE TUTORIALS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Resist the urge to dive into\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Unite<\/em>\u00a0right away. Both seasoned MOBA players and beginners should take the time to check out the game\u2019s six tutorials. The game lets you enter live matches after completing the first few, but it\u2019s worth going through all of the lessons first.<\/p>\n

This trio of tutorials teaches that attacking different wild Pok\u00e9mon can change the dynamics of a match. For instance, some wild creatures can give you buffs, while others can help you score much faster. These tutorials teach you which wild Pok\u00e9mon to look out for. Without their help, you might ignore their assistance completely.<\/p>\n

DON\u2019T SKIP THE SETTINGS MENU EITHER<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The settings menu isn\u2019t the most exciting place to visit in a game, but considering the fast-paced nature of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Unite<\/em>, there are some options in there worth exploring.<\/p>\n

One of the first settings to look at is\u00a0Attack Controls<\/strong>. Switching to Advanced Control allows you to press two different buttons to attack different opposing Pok\u00e9mon. Turning on this setting is important because the game defaults to an automatic basic attack mode. There will be times when you accidentally target a wild Pok\u00e9mon when you are trying to hit an enemy player or vice versa. Switching to Advanced Controls helps you stay in control of where your basic attacks go.<\/p>\n

\"Lock-On<\/picture><\/span><\/span><\/figure>\n

Lock-On Icon<\/strong>\u00a0is another setting you may want to turn on. Enabling this setting allows you to prioritize specific Pok\u00e9mon to attack. This is important in big team fights where you want to focus on taking out support Pok\u00e9mon or strong, but low-health attackers \u2014 especially if a big defender Pok\u00e9mon is standing in the way. Without this setting on, the game\u2019s controls might try and target the harder-to-kill defenders before weaker characters. Being able to control which Pok\u00e9mon you lock onto allows you to attack more precisely.<\/p>\n

WHICH POK\u00c9MON SHOULD YOU UNLOCK FIRST?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After you play through the opening tutorials, you\u2019ll receive a\u00a0Unite License<\/strong>\u00a0which lets you unlock a Pok\u00e9mon. If you\u2019re new to MOBAs, you might not be sure which of the creatures to select first. Each of the options you\u2019re given is great choice for helping you learn the finer details of the game\u2019s various classes.<\/p>\n
