Players step into the dirt-flecked shoes of former outlaw biker Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter trying to find a reason to live in a land surrounded by death. The core experience remains the same: players scavenge through abandoned settlements for equipment to craft valuable items and weapons, and take their chances with other survivors trying to eke out a living through fair trade or more violent means. The crafting system allows players to combine found objects, leading to satisfying moments like crafting a baseball bat with a saw blade to eliminate enemies in a single hit. Combat, especially melee, provides a weighty and bloody experience. Hordes, one of the most thrilling aspects of Days Gone, are massive, hundreds-strong masses of Freakers that require strategy and familiarity with the environment to overcome. Each horde encounter becomes a sprint for survival, demanding resourcefulness and quick thinking. Days Gone Remastered introduces substantial visual and performance enhancements, particularly for PlayStation 5. The PS5 version boasts two distinct display modes. Quality mode delivers razor-sharp 4K resolution with improved shadow mapping and enhanced lighting effects. Performance mode targets 60 frames per second while maintaining crisp visuals.
