Where Winds Meet: word structure and all regions explained
As soon as you start playing, you'll be introduced to the beautiful world of Where Winds Meet, and once you get the first map, you'll see how vast and big it is at the same time.
Since this game is structured as an open world, meaning you'll have the opportunity to explore the world at your own leisure, and inside the world, you'll arrive at the quest starting points, you'll have full freedom to play the game as you like; you can chase the story, or you can do all the side content – it's all really up to you.
Where Winds Meet features two big maps, or two big regions: Qinghe (starting region) and Kaifeng (late-game region). As you explore the map and do stuff within it, you'll gain exploration points, which will level up your exploration. Each level will bring certain rewards; however, exploration level will be gained separately on both maps, meaning once you enter Kaifeng, your exploration will be at zero, and doing things there will raise your exploration level of that particular map.
Where Winds Meet: To unlock the second area, you'll have to finish the entire main questline of the first area
Also, you'll have to do a big chunk of the main story located inside Qinghe to unlock Kaifeng because even though those two regions are very close to each other, the game won't allow you to go there before finishing main quests inside the first region.
Hidden locations and secrets
As we said before, Where Winds Meet encourages exploration, so don't expect that everything will be revealed on the map as soon as you scan the area or get the new map; this game doesn't function like that.
To reveal all the secrets, you'll have to go out there and explore. Once you get the new map from the wayfarers, only the important points of interest will be shown, like main and side quests, locations and settlements, and the like. World bosses, for example, won't be shown on the map, but if you check out their dedicated section, you'll be able to pinpoint their location.
Also, everything the game has to offer will be shown on your mini map, so if you want to explore, you'll be able to follow your mini map up close and discover almost everything.

The map has its levels as well, and even though the underground locations, like different dungeons, will be shown on the map, once you hover over it, you'll get the option to view different levels of the map simply by pressing up and down on the D-Pad.
Traversal mechanics
In Where Winds Meet, there's no place where you cannot set foot, and that is one of the most commendable features. This is all possible due to the traversal mechanics, where you'll be able to climb and move literally everywhere.
Your character is a Wuxia master, and those people can literally fly through the air, so they will be able to do it as well using the special skill. To know more about this particular skill called Lightness Skill, check out our guide.
Where Winds Meet: The hero can literally fly
Traversal can be broken down into several ways of moving through a map, and we will mention all of them here:
Walking and running
Jumping and dashing
Riding horses
Swimming
Wall running
Wallstride
Lightness Skill
Fast travelling
With all those ways of moving around, nothing is inaccessible in Where Winds Meet, as long as you have endurance. Walking and running are quite self-explanatory. Jumping is available from the very beginning, where you can link three jumps and one dash, followed by the Mighty Drop move. If you combine this moving strategy, you'll easily get over any obstacle in the game.
Riding horses is one of the mechanics we explained in one of our guides, so feel free to check on this one as well.
The hero can swim too, but only as long as the endurance is present, which means quite short distances, to be honest. However, if you upgrade endurance, the swimming time can be lengthened considerably.
Wall running depends on endurance as well, but you'll be able to scale almost everything without dropping down, so this mechanic feels a bit broken and too good to be true. Seriously, there is no place in the game you cannot climb on, literally.
Wallstride is a skill you'll get while exploring the world as an exploration reward, and once you reach the exploration level four for each region. This skill is executed by holding the circle button (PS5 controller) while running. After a couple of seconds, the hero will start sprinting unnaturally fast, and this traversal is probably the most useful one because you'll cover huge distances in a short time while still being on the ground and not missing anything.
The Lighting Skill is already explained in our guide mentioned earlier. This skill will allow you to fly through the air, but only if you complete certain conditions. This way of transportation is the best to cover long distances, but since you're flying, you'll miss everything you might come across on the ground, and it will feel more like the fancy way of fast travelling.
