The LOL: Wild Rift SEA Championship will be held by ESL Mobile

ESL Mobile, a mobile esports event organizer, has announced a partnership with Riot Games, a video game publisher and developer, to deliver the League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Championships.

The event will take place during the SEA ICON Series’ Fall season, which is Riot Games’ official tournament series for the Southeast Asian region.

The tournament will include 21 teams from Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand competing in three phases for a share of $200,000 (£144,265) in prize money. The tournament’s Play-In round is set to begin on September 14th.

Nick Vanzetti, Senior Vice President of ESL Asia-Pacific and Japan, spoke on presenting the tournament: “We are extremely excited to present the Wild Rift SEA Championships 2021 together with Riot Games as part of ESL Mobile’s launch in APAC.

“ESL is honoured to be able to provide the best Wild Rift teams the opportunity to shine on the regional stage. This tournament is another great chance to see players prove their skills and compete for honours as the best in SEA.”

Following the Play-In stage, the Group stage will take place from September 23rd to September 26th, with qualifying teams earning a spot in the tournament’s Main Event, which will begin on September 30th. The SEA Championship will be streamed in eight languages on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.

Chris Tran, Head of Esports at Riot Games SEA, added: “The Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 marks the next stage in our Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Fall Season that has seen an amazing level of participation and engagement from our South East Asia teams, players and fans.

“Our teams have proven themselves to be talented and thrilling to watch and we are excited to work with ESL to bring the SEA Championship to the region.”

Esports Insider says: ESL is no stranger when it comes to hosting mobile esports tournaments and having recently launched an all-new mobile ecosystem, Riot Games has made a solid choice in selecting the organiser to present the SEA Championship.
