NetEase Games has revealed key gameplay details for its upcoming adventure RPG, ANANTA. Developed in collaboration with Naked Rain, the new 7-minute trailer showcases its anime-inspired world, combat system, exploration, and more.

Explore a bustling city full of stories and make choices that have a lasting impact

If you’re unaware, ANANTA, formerly known as Project MUGEN, is an urban RPG set in an anime-style open world. The name was later changed to ANANTA in November 2024, when pre-registration opened, followed by an offline test held this January in China.

The new trailer reveals key details, offering you a closer look at the bustling city. From business districts to hidden alleyways, you’ll get various chances to uncover stories and jump into unique adventures. You’ll be able to form your own crew, enjoy the neon nightlife, or face shadowy conflicts.

It immerses you in interactive hotspots spread across the city. One moment you might be petting stray cats, and the next you can engage in a gang clash. NPCs behave in lifelike ways, and every choice you take, from snooping on phones to racing through traffic, leaves an impact.

Players can switch between diverse roles, engage in action-movie-like combat, and more

Combat is built around creativity, fluidity, and fast-paced battles. Here, the environment itself becomes a weapon as you grab items like golf clubs or trash bins to fight enemies. With strategic flexibility, you can adapt fast, pick up enemy weapons, and use dodges and blocks to counterattack them.

I appreciate how exploration feels free, thanks to the ultra-free 3C system that allows you to move freely across the city. You can swing across rooftops or hop into cars, buses, or even helicopters, which gives you full control over how you travel. Plus, you can use vehicles to complete missions.

You can take on diverse roles like police officer, hacker, delivery driver, or live-streamer to explore diverse urban stories. With whimsical touches like legged toilets running through streets, fully accessible interiors across rooftops, mid-levels, and ground floors make the city feel more alive.
