Five Games We Can’t Wait to Experience in 2020

Five Games We Can’t Wait to Experience in 2020

2020 is set to be an incredible year in gaming, one that will be given a final punctuation point by Christmas with the release of new consoles by Sony and Xbox (all being well). However, regardless if you play on mobile, PC, console or through your television, it’s the games that look like being the stars in 2020.

Indeed, there are some incredible titles we simply can’t wait to play. Below we are going to count down five of the best:

1. Cyberpunk 2077

It’s incredible to think that the teaser trailer for this one was released all the way back in 2013, and people have been talking about Cyberpunk 2077 ever since. Indeed, it won “Most Wanted Game” at the Golden Joystick Awards. Will it live up to the hype? There is a lot riding on this one, but the rumours suggest creators CD Projekt Red have caught lightning in a bottle. Expect a similar type of storytelling to GTA 5, all wrapped up in a dystopian future.

2. Doom Eternal

The last Doom release experienced a hacking crisis due to something as seemingly innocuous as a Canon printer, so a reminder to make sure to protect yourself when playing online as gaming has been described as a black hole of cyber-security recently. Anyway, what do we expect from the latest Doom reboot? Plenty of fun if the early reports are to be believed.

3. Halo Infinite

If you are all geared up for Project Scarlett on Xbox, then you better believe they are going to push the new Halo game alongside it. Xbox Studios are putting a lot of effort into getting this right because they know it will reflect badly on the new console if they get it hideously wrong. While trailers can be deceiving, the Halo Infinite teaser knocked out socks off. We think this will be a hit and a big improvement on the previous Halo release.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild II

A lot of pressure here, because many critics regarded the previous Breath of the Wild release as the best game of the 2010s. There are several rumours that Nintendo is thinking of postponing the release date further, perhaps so they can get new Nintendo Switch hardware released to do the game justice. The previous Breath of the Wild was good enough to warrant such a move, so we will wait – but not forever.

5. Half-Life: Alyx

This could be massive. Valve is releasing a new Half-Life game next month, one that is something of a sequel to Half-Life and a prequel to Half-Life 2, with events based in the time between those two games. Anyway, this promises plenty of shooting, problem-solving and a few surprises, all wrapped up in Valve’s attempt to bring virtual reality to the next level in gaming. At the moment, it’s set for release on PC only, but Half-Life: Alyx could also get released for consoles. This one could be a masterpiece.
