Rust Mobile begins its first closed beta test after crossing one million pre-registrations

The hit survival game Rust, famed for its intense player interactions and unforgiving environment, is coming to mobile. Facepunch Studios has officially announced that Rust Mobile is in active development, with a clear roadmap building toward its eagerly awaited release.

Rust Mobile has now ventured into the wild with its first closed beta, launched after surpassing one million pre-registrations. Pre-registration remains open until December 19th—and if the numbers are any indication, demand for a portable Rust experience is undeniable.

The timing couldn’t be better. Fresh off a new cinematic trailer that debuted at The Game Awards 2025, Rust Mobile offers a clearer glimpse of what’s ahead. It stays true to the harsh, unpredictable survival fantasy that defines the PC original, where scavenging, base-building, and sudden violence are never far apart. The key difference? Everything has been reimagined for mobile.

The closed beta features three distinct survival modes. Hardcore is exactly what it sounds like—showing little mercy. Standard eases the pressure slightly while preserving tension. Territory Clash emphasizes structured conflict, giving players clear incentives to fight over land rather than simply survive. Across all modes, you’ll be thrust into a hostile world filled with crafting, combat, and the emergent, player-driven encounters that Rust fans crave.

I’ll admit this kind of ultra-grounded survival has never really been my comfort zone. Rust has always felt intentionally exhausting in that way, where everything you earn can vanish in minutes. But that’s also why the fanbase is so committed, and why seeing this translated to mobile feels like a big deal rather than just another port.

The beta runs until December 26th in select regions across North America, Europe, and Asia, with multiple language options supported. If you’re curious, you can still register on the official website for a chance to get in.

To join the Rust Mobile closed beta, players must register through the official Rust Mobile website. It’s important to note that the application process has been updated.

If you registered earlier through a previous channel, that registration does not automatically carry over. All players must re-register through the current official application page to be considered.

Here’s how the process works:

  • Register through the official Rust Mobile website
  • Submit your application to enter the candidate pool
  • Link your LI PASS (Level Infinite Pass) account
  • Wait for a selection email if you’re chosen

Linking your LI PASS account is mandatory. All beta access credentials and activation codes will be delivered through LI PASS. Players who do not complete this step will not be able to receive access, even if they applied.

Selected players will receive an official email about one week before the test begins. This email includes an Exclusive Activation Code along with download instructions.
