Clash Royale Season 87: Everything Arriving in September 2026

Oliver |

Supercell has pulled back the curtain on Clash Royale's September update, and Season 87 leans heavily into a "Minion Academy" theme. The headline act is a returning album-collection event built around Minion Giant, but the month also brings back the 2v2 League and Princess Gambit, plus a brand-new randomized game mode called Royale Shuffle. Here's a full rundown of what's live and when.

Strategy

Academy Antics Album Event (September 7 – October 5)

The centerpiece of the season is a Minion-themed album event that follows Minion Giant through his chaotic first year at "Minion Academy." It works like previous album events: players gather Snippets across four rarity tiers — Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary — by playing daily matches, taking part in events, and browsing the in-game Shop. Those Snippets are then used to fill in Scenes and unlock rewards along the way.

There's also a duplicate-conversion system — trade four repeated Snippets for a guaranteed new one — and during the event's last week, every Snippet earned from daily rewards is guaranteed to be a new one you don't already have. Finish the entire album and you'll walk away with 1,750 Minion Giant cards, a unique emote, and a Tower Skin. The event unlocks starting at Arena 3.

2v2 League (September 7 – September 21)

Clash Royale 2v2 League

Team battles are back for two weeks. Pair up with a friend and climb the leaderboard for a shot at two different badges: one for simply completing the League Road, and a second, more competitive one reserved for players who land in the top 10,000.

Royale Shuffle (September 21 – October 5)

This is the new addition for the season, and it strips away player choice almost entirely — you're handed a random game mode and a random deck each match. The mode pool is large, cycling through Triple Elixir, Super Troop Showdown, Sudden Death, Rage Battle, Heist, Snowball Bombardment, Mega Monk, Blackout, 4-Card Clash, Capture the Mortar, Dragon Hunt, and Everything Evolved.

Royale Shuffle

A dedicated Royale Shuffle Challenge runs during the final stretch, from September 28 to October 5, and rewards players with a Battle Banner (frame plus decoration).

Princess Gambit Global Tournament (September 21 – September 26)

This oddball mode returns for a limited run, handing control of the arena to the Tower Princess. Matches use Sudden Death rules with just two Princess Towers per side, and each player's deck is pulled from a rotating pool of 40 cards. Evolutions and Heroes stay active throughout, with the specific cards and forms available revealed at the start of each battle. Card levels are capped at 11, while which Evolutions and Heroes you can access still depends on your own collection.

Princess Gambit Global Tournament

Playing nets you an exclusive Princess Gambit badge, and finishing in the top 10,000 adds a Leaderboard Finisher Badge on top of that.

Clashroom Community Event (September 22 – September 26)

A more educational spin-off event, Clashroom mixes lessons on biology, physics, and history into the Clash Royale universe, followed by a quiz-style test of what you've learned. Supercell hasn't detailed the full format yet and says more information will land closer to launch.

Rewards at a Glance

  • Academy Antics Album: 1,750 Minion Giant cards, an exclusive emote, and a Tower Skin for full completion
  • 2v2 League: two collectible badges (League Road completion + top 10,000 leaderboard finish)
  • Princess Gambit: an exclusive event badge plus a Leaderboard Finisher Badge for top 10,000 players
  • Royale Shuffle Challenge: a Battle Banner with matching frame and decoration

With the Academy Antics album, a shuffled-mode challenge, and two competitive limited-time tournaments all overlapping across the month, Season 87 gives players plenty of reasons to log in through early October.
