Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 Preview Schedule Officially Announced

Trailblazers, long time no see! The recent content drought in Honkai: Star Rail has been really testing our patience, but thankfully, the developers have just released the upcoming version’s event calendar—aka the February major events lineup! Players who saw the news are saying: Finally! It’s time to set off for a new planet and embark on another round of adventures! The special program is scheduled to meet everyone on February 6th at 7:30 PM (UTC+8). Hopefully, the devs will bless us with plenty of rewards and compensation!

According to the latest updates, Honkai: Star Rail has not only confirmed the long-awaited Version 4.0 special program but has also dropped a whole wave of new preview materials and PV schedules.

First up on February 1st is the “Dual-Phase Paradise Impromptu Tour.” This might be similar to the earlier “Ode to Orphanos” PV—possibly introducing a batch of new character previews or “crumbs.” Since Version 4.0 will also have its own dedicated version PV, this could also be an early release of the “Dual-Phase Paradise” animated short.

On February 3rd, expect the usual world introduction PV.

The content on the 4th appears region-specific and remains unknown for now.

February 7th brings the regular, delightfully offbeat interview program.

Then on the 8th, 10th, and 12th, we’ll get PVs or animated shorts related to Yaoguang.

The 11th might feature new Pathstrider splash art or introductions.

Around the 15th, we can likely anticipate a Lunar New Year event with free Star Jade rewards, similar to last year.

Honestly, Star Rail is taking over almost half of February at this point. I can’t wait any longer—I need to play “Dual-Phase Paradise” right now and embrace the chaos as an emanator of Aha!

Regarding character adjustments, Sparkle has received a slight buff in the V5 update. Previously, her first Eidolon effect read: “For every point of ‘Witticism’ currently possessed, increases all allies’ CRIT DMG by 6%, up to a maximum of 60%.” The buffed description now states: “For every point of ‘Witticism’ currently possessed, increases all allies’ CRIT DMG by 8%, up to a maximum of 80%.”

Overall, between Sparkle and Yaoguang, Yaoguang still holds higher appeal for most players in terms of pulling priority. This is mainly because Sparkle’s changes have shifted her role more from a primary DPS toward a sub-DPS/support position. This does create a bit of a dilemma—it feels like there’s almost a “curse” surrounding follow-up attack characters in Honkai: Star Rail. Sub-DPS units often struggle to generate strong pulling interest; they don’t deliver the same immediate combat thrill as a main damage dealer, nor do they feel as consistently valuable as pure supports. It’s a somewhat awkward position to be in.

Moreover, reliable sources online have revealed that due to the two-week delay of Version 3.8, the banner durations in the upcoming Versions 4.0 and 4.1 will each be shortened by one week. Without this adjustment, the anniversary version would also be postponed by two weeks. That said, it’s still best to wait for the official announcement during the special program for final confirmation.
