The reveal came packaged with the debut gameplay trailer and a full breakdown of pre-order tiers. Beyond the usual roster refresh, this year's edition brings a handful of structural changes to how players experience the game across its major modes.

The Big Reveals
Rather than leading with cosmetic updates, EA's announcement focused on three substantial mode changes: a brand-new social hub, an overhauled transfer system in Career Mode, and a fresh collection mechanic in Ultimate Team.
The Grounds stands out as the headline feature — EA's first serious push into social football outside traditional match formats. Players control a customizable avatar that moves across three themed areas drawing on different corners of football culture, ranging from casual street courts to indoor venues. Activities span informal pickup games, one-on-one duels, and squad-based Clubs matches.
Real football personalities populate each area as guide figures, among them Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala, and Alex Hunter. They walk players through challenges, offer skill-building activities, and hand out cosmetic unlocks for the avatar. It's a notable shift away from the traditional menu-driven structure the franchise has relied on for years.
Worth noting: The Grounds will only be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 — last-generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One, original Switch) are excluded from this feature entirely.
Career Mode's transfer overhaul is built around a new engine powered by TransferRoom, factoring in club finances, player form, current ratings, and growth potential with much finer granularity than before. The system also introduces buy-back clauses, sell-on percentages, and AI clubs that can get into genuine bidding competitions — meaning letting a promising young player leave now carries more strategic weight.
FUT Gallery gives Ultimate Team a new long-term collecting layer. Players assemble sets of items sourced from various clubs, leagues, countries, and in-game events, with gallery progression unlocking additional rewards across the season — adding a slower-burn incentive on top of the usual weekly content cycle.
On the pitch, EA says it has adjusted dynamic corner mechanics, sharpened attacking runs, and rebalanced AI defensive behavior based on community input, aiming for more natural off-ball movement and tighter manual defending.
Pricing and Editions
Pre-orders are already open across all platforms:
- Standard Edition — $69.99: The core game, a 92+ OVR ICON item usable in FC 26 Ultimate Team, Career Mode pre-order content, and a handful of Grounds cosmetics.
- Ultimate Edition: Adds a week of early access (playable from September 18), a Season 1 Premium Pass, 6,000 FC Points distributed over three months, an 85+ ICON item, and an extra Player Evolution slot.
- Ultimate Plus Edition (pre-order window closes August 31): Builds on the Ultimate Edition with Premium Passes for Seasons 1–5, 10,000 FC Points spread across five months, a Hall of Fame player pick (choosing one of five options — Adebayo Akinfenwa, Giovani dos Santos, Loïc Rémy, Marouane Fellaini, or Eljero Elia), plus additional Career Mode and Grounds content.
EA Play members get a 10-hour trial from September 18, while EA Play Pro subscribers get full access on launch day. The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2, and PC, alongside a free trial version called EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite.
Mbappé fronts all three cover editions, returning to the franchise's box art following the FIFA-EA split and a strong showing at the 2026 World Cup, where he finished as top scorer with 10 goals. Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham shares the Ultimate Plus cover with him — his third appearance on FC packaging.
